Rap Beat Maker Programs
All the biggest producers and engineers around the globe, deploy very similar software as their rap beat maker.
If you weren’t aware, these programs are commonly referred to as DAWs or Digital Audio Workstations, sequencers, recording programs and various other names.
Some producers manually create their beats with the mouse within the software platform and others, such as Chad Hugo from The Neptunes or Dre for example, like to tap out their beats by hand with a drum machine - though it is all captured within the software.
With so many options of programs to choose from to create your own original digital music, it can be hard to know where to start. The following information should help clear that up:
DUBTURBO
Fast becoming one of the most popular music applications available, Dubturbo is possibly the least complicated interface on the market.
The quality and variety of all the sounds included, are driving people to download the program just for the sound kits that are included in the basic package. Many users simply opt for just the kits, to be used with other programs that they are already be operating.
Perfect for those with no experience, to producers looking to widen their instrument range; it will allow and motivate you to pump out professional sounding tracks immediately.
Both Mac and PC versions can be downloaded and the keyboard drum machine feature allows the user to record your beats live, if that’s your style. So no expensive additional equipment is needed.
Bang out a high quality mix by exporting the track with the easy bounce feature and start selling those tracks straight away.

PRO TOOLS
Pro Tools by Avid (formerly Digidesign) is the industry standard recording software. Every big song in every genre that you have heard in the last several years had some involvement with Protools.
This may sound like it contradicts the earlier paragraph – but many beats are made elsewhere and imported into Protools for vocals or other instruments and the final mix.
Unlike other software, Protools will not even start without an interface connected to your computer, which makes the start-up costs expensive. It could be something as small as the Mbox (featured right) running the basic LE version or a massive mixing console, operated by Protools HD.
Prices start from around $550.00 for the basic M Powered version and can reach $10,000′s for the high end setups, depending on your hardware.
Protools is great if you want to lay down your own vocals and get a professional sound, but we still recommend making your beats in Dubturbo and importing the files into the Protools session, as the drum sequencer in Protools is very unfriendly and frustrating to use.

Choosing Your Software:
Think about all the biggest rap tracks that you know of – it is a fact that all the music, with the exception that which have live guitars, were all made on the what are fundamentally, very basic software applications.
There are producers out there making big money off creating their own beats and selling them online, or to other artists they know. Hot beats are in demand right now and this is only going increase as time goes by.
The moral of the story here is that you do not need extensive experience in engineering, nor do you need to have a big budget to get started in creating and selling your own music. Many DJs and producers got their start in the game in the exact same way, with a basic computer program, and graduated to bigger systems after making their first break.
What ever you choose, make sure it is something that has high quality samples, sounds and exporting capabilities, so you will be on the same playing field as everyone else.
